Quick follow-up for the group: I'd like to run a monthly teardown thread where we pick one app with really good motion and pull apart how its transitions work. Which app should we start with?

Welcome to React Design and Animation Masters! This is the corner of the network for people who care about how interfaces move: transitions, micro-interactions, gesture feedback and the animation libraries we all have opinions about.

A few ways to use the group: post a work-in-progress and ask for honest feedback, share a sandbox link when something feels off, or bring that list animation that only drops frames on an older Android phone. React and React Native are both fair game, and every skill level is welcome.

To get things started, tell us what you're working on and which animation you're proudest of. Rough prototypes count.

That's enough questions from me for one morning. I'll post before-and-after recordings once the feed changes settle, and I'd value honest critique. Be as picky as you like.

A small win to share: block headers in the app now fade into the content as you scroll instead of ending in a hard edge. Tiny detail, but it made the whole screen feel softer.

Also curious how you handle reduced motion. Right now we switch off the larger transitions when the system setting is on but keep the small fades. Is that the usual approach, or should everything go?

Does anyone have a favourite set of easing curves they reuse across projects? I'd like a small, boring, consistent set for the whole app instead of picking a new one for every screen.

Something I learned the hard way this week: a 300 ms fade on every card in a long list adds up. On an older phone the feed felt sluggish even though each animation was short. Limiting it to the first few visible cards fixed most of it.

Some context for my questions: the app is built with React Native and the web version with Next.js, so anything that works on both is a big plus. Shared animation code would be a dream, but I'd settle for consistent timing.

First question: when a feed has new posts, do you animate them in at the top, or show a small new posts button and let people choose? I keep going back and forth.

Joined this group to learn from people who know motion far better than I do. We're reworking how the feed loads on this network, and I'd like it to feel calm rather than flashy.
